My question was a complaint, an invitation, and an ethical challenge. Because here, where so many lives are extinguished by violence and lack of opportunity, time seems suspended and the future endlessly postponed.

We urgently need a renewed, ambitious, deep, concrete, and systemic governmental commitment to educational and literary equity.

What are we intentionally planting and nurturing today? What do we want to see flourish?

Sadly, it’s enough to just follow the daily scandals.

Let’s consider other models, possibilities, and forms of leadership that can help us reprogram ourselves as a society.
